Biobased Hyperbranched Polyurethane

In this chapter, a general introduction on biobased biodegradable polyurethane (PU) is given. It encompasses a brief report on PU and its raw materials. The methods of preparation for PU are discussed herein. A brief description of different analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques, such as FTIR, XRD, TGA, DSC, SEM, and TEM, is presented for the characterization of PU. Important properties like mechanical, thermal, electrical, optical, shape memory, self-healing, self-cleaning, etc., along with physical, rheological, biological, etc. properties of PU are also deliberated. This chapter further briefly highlights the applications of PU in different fields. Conclusions and future trends are presented at the end of this chapter.
