Solutions Commonly Applied in Industry and Outsourced to Expert Laboratories
This chapter describes some real problems that arise when analysing food contact materials in third-party (expert) laboratories, such as establishing the correct experimental setup, selecting the right analytical technique and general contamination issues arising from the samples and their handling before reaching the laboratory. Some solutions are described. This chapter also deals with state-of-the-art procedures when analysing food contact material-based substances. The golden goal is the screening out of simulants and partially extraction solutions with high-resolution mass spectrometry, while paying attention to the possibility of performing a full screening of food itself in the near future. The challenges and partial solutions are described.
