Reproductive and Developmental Toxicity of Formaldehyde Exposure in Humans
Thus far, this book has explored the links between formaldehyde exposure and general toxicity, as well as links between formaldehyde exposure and cancer. However, formaldehyde also poses a significant threat to reproductive and developmental health. Using new criteria and a unique approach to literature-based methods, an up-to-date meta-analysis of formaldehyde exposure and reproductive/developmental toxicity was conducted, which marked a departure from previous conclusions on the same subject. The findings provide evidence that maternal formaldehyde exposure is associated with spontaneous abortion and other adverse pregnancy outcomes.
