Near-Infrared Absorbers and Their Applications
Compounds that absorb in the near-infrared (NIR) region of the spectrum are of great interest because they can be used to absorb the energy of lasers at a specific wavelength of the spectrum, for example GaAs/GaAlAs based lasers at 780–905 nm. The resultant energy of the excited state of the molecule can then be used in a variety of applications as detailed in this chapter.
