Ammonium Surfactant-capped Rh(0) Nanoparticles for Biphasic Hydrogenation

Since the end of the 1990s, nanocatalysis has clearly emerged as a frontier between traditional homogeneous and heterogeneous approaches. In this chapter, we focused on the development of rhodium nanoparticle-based catalysts for hydrogenation in biphasic liquid–liquid conditions. Based on non-exhaustive but pertinent examples of surfactant-stabilized nanoparticle suspensions, this chapter reviews the recent progress achieved in catalysis, particularly with quaternary ammonium salts as water-soluble protective agents.
