Gold-Coated Graphene-Embedded Micron-Sized Polystyrene Core-Shell Structures with Unconventional Hall Anomaly and Berry Curvature

Abstract

Herein, the gold coated monolayer graphene embedded polystyrene coreshell polycrystalline colloidal materials were successfully synthesized via a three-step method for the first time. It has been demonstrated that new coreshell structures exhibit the unconventional plasmon optical Hall anomaly, with the distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) and plasmonic heterojunctions on surfaces. The DBR is primarily caused by the graphene sheet stacking, while the UV absorption Hall plateau undergoes the double-plasmon resonance shift from 290 nm to 490 nm, originated from the heterojunctions. Ramann analysis reveal new edge states, characterized by the unconventional Hall ratios, 3/4, 5/2, 1/3 and 3/2. FTIR spectra display the plasmon optical transparency and opacity in the crossovers near 700 cm -1 , 1500 cm -1 , and 3000 cm -1 , consistent with theoretical expectations, closely relating to plasmon Hall states in dimensionally hybrid graphene systems.
