Recent applications of metal-organic frameworks in the field of electrochemical sensing
Abstract
With the advantages of abundant active sites, homogeneous structure, and notable chemical stability, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are highly suitable as electrode materials for electrochemical sensors. As pure MOFs face numerous difficulties and challenges, more and more MOF composites and derivatives are being prepared using various synthesis methods to design high-performance sensors. This paper primarily focuses on a variety of applications of MOFs as advanced electrode materials in sensing field in recent several years, including biosensors, ion sensors, and gas sensors. The synthetic procedures and sensing performance of these materials are also discussed. Moreover, at the end of the article, a concise description is provided regarding the current predicament and future development outlooks in the preparation and application of electrochemical sensors with MOFs.
