Total Synthesis of (+)-Cassiol

Abstract

Total synthesis of cassiol was accomplished from geraniol in nine steps. Yamamoto epoxide rearrangement was used to establish the chiral quaternary center, while ring closing metathesis was used to construct the cyclohexanone unit present in the molecule.
