Na2SnSO4F2: An Ultraviolet Transparent Sulfate Crystal with Large Birefringence Driven by Stereochemically Active Tin(II)
Abstract
A new mixed alkali tin sulfate fluoride birefringent crystal Na2SnSO4F2 was successfully synthesized and grown. It exhibits a large birefringence of 0.086 at 1064 nm and matain a large bandgap. Theoretical calculations indicate that the relatively well-aligned of [SnOF2] polyhedra are the primary contributor to the large birefringence.
