Size-Matching Overrides the Electronic Preference of Cation-π Interactions in a Deep Cavitand

Abstract

Here we report that size-matching overrides the contribution of the expected electronic preference of cation-π anchoring in deep cavitand H, leading to the preferential encapsulation of electron-deficient aromatics over electron-rich analogues in aqueous media.
