A seeding strategy enables catalyst-free high-rate lithium-oxygen batteries

Abstract

A pre-nucleation strategy is developed to establish a seeding effect for high-rate lithium-oxygen batteries without relying on catalysts. The seeding effect guides the surface-directed growth of Li2O2 along high-surface-energy facets, accelerating oxygen reduction kinetics and delivering high capacity and excellent rate capability.
