A novel site-selective phenylselenylation of C2 site of indole ring in the Trp side chain of various peptides was achieved in an acidic aqueous medium without metal catalysts via an electrophilic substitution using benzeneselenyl bromide (BSB) and benzeneselenyl chloride (BSC).
