In the search for readily available, inexpensive and yet efficient catalysts for CO2 cycloaddition to epoxides, we show that biobased quinine forms active homogeneous and recyclable heterogeneous organocatalysts for cyclic carbonate synthesis by simple modifications such as neutralization with HI or grafting on resin.
