Electrochemical cross-dehydrogenative coupling of isochroman with sulfonamide and indole

Abstract

The efficient combination of two medium-sized backbone molecules facilitates the acquisition of hybrid molecular drug candidates. In this paper, we have successfully established a novel electrochemical cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction of isochroman with sulfonamide and indole to construct hybrid molecules under mild and green reaction conditions. This protocol is carried out at room temperature and does not require any transition metal catalyst or exogenous oxidant. The results of control experiments and cyclic voltammetry experiments showed that the reaction might involve a free radical process.
