Ligand induced release of HNO/NOˉ from a cobalt(II)-nitrosyl complex

Abstract

The number of Co-nitrosyls having {Co(NO)} 8 configuration, which donate HNO under specific reaction conditions, is only a handful. A Co-nitrosyl complex, [Co(TMTAA 2 ˉ)(NO)], 1a [TMTAA 2 ˉ = 5,7,12,14tetramethyldibenzotetraaza[14]annulene dianion] of {Co(NO)} 8 configuration is shown to donate NOˉ in the presence of imidazole.
