Ce/Gd Co-doping in NiFe LDH Engineered Oxygen Vacancies for Enhanced Oxygen Evolution

Abstract

The appropriate co-doping of Ce and Gd into NiFe-LDH creates abundant oxygen vacancies. During the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), Ce segregates as CeO2 nano-islands while Gd remains uniformly dispersed, jointly enhancing stability. Ce,Gd-NiFe LDH achieves an overpotential 30 mV lower than NiFe-LDH (228 mV) at 10 mA cm-2 and operates stably for over 140 h.
