A lipid droplet-targeted Pt(ii) complex enables photoinduced ferroptosis and apoptosis against cisplatin-resistant cells
Abstract
The development of metal complex-based photosensitizers that can precisely regulate cell fate via lipid droplet (LD)-mediated pathways remains challenging. Herein, an LD-specific targeting Pt(II) complex was designed to address this limitation by directly inducing sufficient lipid peroxidation (LPO) accumulation, offering a novel platform for synergistic ferroptosis–apoptosis cancer therapy. This work provides a novel anticancer platform using photoactivated platinum complexes to concurrently trigger dual cell death pathways.
