Hierarchical CoMoP/NiCoP Heterostructures on Nickel Foam for Efficient Electrochemical Nitrate-to-Ammonia Conversion at Industrial Current Densities

Abstract

Here we construct a CoMoP/NiCoP hierarchical heterostructure on nickel foam as an integral electrode, achieving a remarkable nitrate-to-ammonia Faradaic efficiency of 94.9% at -0.4 V (vs. RHE) and a production rate of 88.6 mg·h-1·cm-2. This superior performance can be due to the electron transfer from Mo to Co/Ni through P mediation, resulting in enhanced NH3 electrosynthesis kinetics and selectivity.
