Reversible redox chemistry of disulfide/thiol for aqueous organic flow batteries
Abstract
We demonstrate reversible redox chemistry for protonated pyridyl disulfide/thiol (Dp-PySSPy/p-PySH) in aqueous organic flow batteries (AOFBs). The lightest hydrophilic group (H+) endows Dp-PySSPy with super hydrophilicity, thus leading to a high volumetric capacity of 90.0 Ah L-1. This work broadens the family of organic redox-active materials for designing AOFBs.
