Development of a convenient and useful transesterification reaction using a catalytic amount of strontium alkoxide

Abstract

Strontium tert-butoxide can be easily synthesized resulting in a white solid with long shelf life. Using the strontium tert-butoxide as a catalyst, transesterification of various methyl esters with various alcohols proceeded smoothly in the absence of solvents with execellnt yields.
