A Hexadentate Co(III) Catalyst Enables One-Pot Quinazolinone Synthesis via Metal–Ligand Cooperative Alcohol Activation

Abstract

Here, we present the first Co(III) catalysed efficient metal ligand cooperative route for the synthesis of quinazolinone using acceptorless dehydrogenation of primary alcohols. An air-stable phosphine-free Co(III) complex anchored by a hexadentate ligand was efficiently utilized in the synthesis of a wide variety of quinazolinone derivatives (28 examples).
