4-chloro-2H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde: A Valid Scaffold in Organic Synthesis and Future Molecules for Healthcare and Energy
Abstract
In the past decade, 4-chloro-2H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde scaffolds (CCCS) have gained significant interest in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. Due to the reactivity of this scaffold with various organic molecules, this review summarizes the progress in understanding its chemical properties and emphasizes its potential in chemical and pharmaceutical development. Improved synthetic methods have enhanced accessibility, fostering applications in drug discovery, natural product synthesis, health care and energy and other research areas. Notably, CCCS demonstrates as a scaffold for drugs targeting inflammation, cancer, and microbial infections. Hereby, we have highlighted the most efficient compounds from each series for the concerned application.
