Two-step electrochemically driven synthesis of sunitinib

Abstract

An electrochemical method for sunitinib synthesis was developed using iodide as a mediator, enabling sustainable amidation (72% yield) and condensation (95% yield) at room temperature. This study highlights iodide's crucial role in the reaction mechanism and the potential of graphite electrodes as eco-friendly alternatives to conventional synthetic methods.
