808 nm near infrared excited Ho3+ and Tm3+ based metal–organic frameworks for luminescence thermometry and photothermal conversion
Abstract
Lanthanide based metal–organic frameworks are emerging as a class of materials with multiple applications. This is due to the combination of the unique optical properties of lanthanide ions and the extra functionalities added by the metal–organic frameworks. Nevertheless, up to now, these properties have not been explored to their full potential. In this work, we prove, for the first time, that Ho3+,Tm3+ based 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid metal–organic frameworks can be applied as luminescent thermometers and also as photothermal agents, using their upconversion properties after excitation at 808 nm.
