Sustainable synthesis of hydrosilanes and alkoxysilanes in a sequential one-pot olefin hydrosilylation and dehydrogenative coupling with alcohol under phenoxyiminato cobalt(ii) catalysis

Abstract

A simple, bench-stable cobalt complex catalyses alkene hydrosilylation, offering a green alternative to precious metals. The activator-free system shows olefin-dependent regioselectivity, yielding α-adducts from vinylarenes (in a solvent-free protocol) or β-adducts from aliphatic olefins. It also enables a practical one-pot synthesis of valuable alkoxysilanes.
