Frustrated Lewis pair chemistry of alkynes

Abstract

The concept of frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) has proved to be a general principle for the activation and reactivity of small molecules. In this review, we focus on the chemistry of FLPs with alkynes. We first survey the range of donors and acceptors that are used in stoichiometric reactions with terminal and functionalized alkynes. In the second portion of the review, we discuss advances that exploit FLPs for catalytic reactions and conclude with a perspective on future directions.
