Recent advances in synthesis and crystal structures of metal pentazolate salts

Abstract

Pentazole is the last member of the azole family. As a five-membered ring constructed from nitrogen, a pentazole skeleton is a good nitrogen-donor ligand, which possesses great potential to prepare intriguing multidimensional structures. In recent years, a series of metal pentazolate salts have been synthesized, which have attracted immense attention due to their interesting crystal structures. In this study, an overview of all the reported metal pentazolate salts is provided; furthermore, the key issues to be solved and future prospects in this field are also discussed.
