High quantum yield and unusual photoluminescence behaviour in tetrahedral manganese(ii) based on hybrid compounds

Abstract

Two novel tetrahedral manganese(II) complexes, (N-methylpiperidinium)MnCl4 (1) and (N-methylpyrrolidinium)MnCl4 (2), with clearly distinct fluorescence characteristics were synthesized through organic cation modulation. Compound 1 exhibits prominent green luminescence with a high quantum yield of 79.37% and 2 emits unusual red emission at 611 nm.
