Eco-friendly synthesis of highly emissive benzothiadiazole-based fluorophores via a solvent-free hand-grinding Horner–Wadsworth–Emmons reaction in ≤1 minute

Abstract

We report a rapid, solvent-free hand-grinding Horner–Wadsworth–Emmons reaction that synthesizes highly emissive DS-BTD and BV-BTD derivatives within one minute. The products exhibit strong green-to-NIR fluorescence (PLQYs of up to 86.6%) and high potential when applied in OLEDs, highlighting an eco-friendly route to high-performance organic emitters.
