Dual electric fields coupled with hollow porous structures synergistically enable efficient electrocatalytic nitrate-to-ammonia conversion†
Abstract
A new model A/R-TiO2/CuOx electrocatalyst for upcycling nitrate to ammonia is constructed by coupling dual electric fields and hollow porous structures, which can enhance the local concentrations of NO3− and intermediates, and can lower the energy barrier of *NO to *NOH. Therefore, high NH3 yield (0.292 mmol h−1 cm−2) and Faradaic efficiency (92.31%) at −1.4 V vs. SCE are achieved.
