Single crystal growth and properties of a promising laser and nonlinear material based on LaAl-dimetaborate activated by Nd3+ ions

Abstract

This work presents the results of single-crystal growth of Nd3+-doped lanthanum aluminum dimetaborates, La1−xNdxAl2.07(B4O10)O0.6 (x = 0.03–0.06), from a high-temperature molybdate-based flux. The composition and morphology of the obtained crystals were systematically investigated, and PXRD, EPMA and DSC data are presented. Additionally, the luminescence spectra of Nd3-doped solid solutions were studied, revealing the potential of these materials as laser-active media.
