Electrochemical synthesis of pyridine carboxamides from pyridine carbohydrazides and amines in an aqueous medium

Abstract

An external chemical oxidant free method for the synthesis of pyridine carboxamides from pyridine carbohydrazides and amines was achieved in a green solvent via electrochemistry. With KI as the mediator and electrolyte, the in situ generated pyridine acyl radicals react with primary amines, secondary amines and ammonia to furnish diverse pyridine carboxamides with moderate to good yields under mild conditions.
