Synthesis of (pivaloyloxy)methyl 6α-fluoropenicillanate

Abstract

(Pivaloyloxy)methyl (Pom) 6α-fluoropenicillanate (2) was prepared in 15% yield from the readily available (pivaloyloxy)methyl 6-diazopenicillanate (1) and pyridinium poly(hydrogen fluoride). Its structure was established by 1H, 13C, and 19F n.m.r. spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. A new synthesis of Porm 6β-aminopenicillanate is described.
