Nitrosyl-bridged cyclopentadienyl-cobalt and -rhodium cations
Abstract
[M(CO)2(η-C5R5)](M = Co or Rh, R = H or Me) and [NO]+ afford [M(CO)(NO)(η-C5R5)]+(3) and then [M2(CO)2(µ-NO)(η-C5R5)2]+(4) which decarbonylates to give [M2(µ-CO)(µ-NO)(η-C5R5)2]+(5); complex (4) undergoes reversible nitrosyl-bridge cleavage with alkenes, and (5) reacts with [NO]+ to give [{M(η-NO)(µ-C5R5)}2]2+(7) which is reduced to [{M(η-NO)(η-C5R5)}2]+(6; M = Co).
