1,2-Oxathiolan, a simple sultene

Abstract

Evidence is presented which indicate that pyrolysis of N-(3-hydroxypropylthio)phthalimide gives 1,2-oxathiolan as a volatile product via an intermediate tentatively identified as a cyclic oligomer.
