Cyclisation of acetylenecarboxylic acids; a novel route to γ-methylenebutyrolactones

Abstract

Various γ-methylenebutyrolactones have been synthesized in good yield by the cyclisation of acetylenecarboxylic acids in the presence of a catalytic amount of mercury(II) oxide.
