HeI photoelectron spectrum of the P2(X1 +g) molecule

Abstract

The HeI photoelectron spectrum of the P2(X1+g) molecule has been recorded and interpreted with the aid of ab initio and semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations. Three ionic states of the diphosphorus molecule are found to be accessible with HeI radiation. Comparison is made between the properties of these states and the corresponding well established ionic states of nitrogen.
