Aggregation-Suppressed Red Fluorescent Dye Incorporating Bulky Picket-Fence Groups

Abstract

We developed a red fluorescent dye, Picket-fence (PF) Tetraphenyldibenzoperiflanthene (PF-DBP), to suppress aggregation-caused quenching. PF-DBP exhibited an 80% photoluminescence quantum yield in solution. In rubrene-based organic light-emitting diodes, its sharp emission spectrum delivered a 3.2-fold increase in electroluminescence intensity compared to conventional DBP.
