Modulation of metal (oxy)sulfide photocatalysts towards artificial photosynthesis

Abstract

Artificial photosynthesis technology mimics natural photosynthesis, with the goal of converting solar energy into chemical energy and promoting environmental sustainability. In this review, the recent advance of metal (oxy)sulfide photocatalysts for artificial photosynthesis were summarized. The breakthough of metal (oxy)sulfide photocatalyst in water decomposition and CO2 reduction lived up their potential in the field of energy conversion and catalysis. Through in-depth analysis, the challenges and directions for improvement in achieving scale-up and commercialization of the development of efficient photocatalysts that can absorb a wide range of the solar spectrum were pointed out, which aims to provide guidance for future research to facilitate the design and optimization of these efficient photocatalyst.
