A designed pyromellitic diimide derivative as negolyte for neutral aqueous organic redox flow battery with high power density

Abstract

The redox potential of aromatic diimide derivative is regulated by tailoring the conjugated structure, yielding the most negative pyromellitic diimide negolyte with high solubility and fast reaction kinetics. It helps to build a high-voltage pH-neutral aqueous organic redox flow battery, achieving a record power density of 307 mW cm-2.
