Dual Heating Mode Fluffy Phase Change Fibers for Personal Thermal Management

Abstract

Effective personal thermal management (PTM) demands the synergistic integration of insulation, thermal buffering, and both active and passive heating. However, current approaches often struggle to achieve multifunctionality while maintaining lofty insulation. Here, we report a copper-coated fluffy phase change wadding (Cu-FPCW) prepared through humidity-induced coaxial electrospinning and in-situ deposition. Cu-FPCW provides passive insulation, thermal buffering, radiative heat retention, and Joule heating within a single, lightweight, resilient framework. Its effective thermal regulation is demonstrated through a notable radiative warming effect and a rapid Joule heating response at safe voltages. This study offers a viable strategy for developing multifunctional PTM materials applicable to outdoor thermal insulation products.
