Metal–Organic Solids as Porous Magnets: Recent Progress and Potential Applications
Abstract
The development of porous magnets could lead to breakthrough in various modern technologies, including magnetic separation, lightweight magnets, magnetic sensing, and biomedicine. Porous metal–organic solids have emerged as a promising candidates for multifunctional magnet, offering high synthetic versatility and finely tunable physical properties. Although most metal–organic solids exhibit magnetic order at temperatures well below the ambient conditions, continued endeavors have led to the successful syntheses of numerous compounds with high magnetic ordering temperatures. This review highlights notable design strategies and recent advances in the synthesis of metal–organic magnets. We also emphasize porosity in a large number of these metal–organic magnets and potential applications of the porous magnets.
