Modulating the Carbon Tails of Ligands on AuCu 14 Nanoclusters Enables the Transition from Single to Dual Emission

Abstract

By modulating the carbon tails of surface ligands, we engineered AuCu14 nanoclusters from single to dual emission. Structural analysis showed smaller ligands extend the metal core, activating dual emission and increasing quantum yield. One cluster served as a rapid Ag+ sensor, providing a model for smart luminescent materials.
