PPh3-Mediated synthesis of multifunctional indolin-3-one derivatives from 2-(ethynyl)nitrobenzenes and aryl ketones

Abstract

A simple method is introduced for the preparation of multifunctional indolin-3-one derivatives from 2-alkynylnitrobenzenes and dibenzoylmethanes. Under mild reaction conditions, the corresponding indolin-3-one derivatives are obtained in moderate to excellent yields. The key intermediate 3H-indol-3-ones are generated through a Wittig-like process and can be further converted into the desired products via Mannich-like addition reactions.
