Mn(Ⅱ)-doped zero-dimensional hybrid Cd bromide with efficient green emission

Abstract

Organic-inorganic metal halides (OIMHs) have garnered increasing attention due to their unique structure and outstanding optoelectronic properties. Achieving emissive OIMHs through Metal ion doping has emerged as a viable strategy. We report a new zero-dimensional (0D) OIMHs, 30%Mn2+:(HEP)CdBr4 (HEP-Mn:Cd, HEP:1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)piperazine), which exhibits green emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 62.01%, outperforming previously reported Cd-based OIMHs. The exceptional efficiency arises from the high probability of radiative recombination and minimal nonradiative losses. Also, HEP-Mn:Cd exhibits excellent thermal and air stability, making it a promising candidate for applications in the field of lighting materials.
