Redox-active chromophore grafted microenvironment in metal-organic framework recognizes aromatic amine isomers

Abstract

Grafting a redox-active chromophore into a Zr-based metal-organic framework, MOF-808 yields a fluorescent porous solid capable of discriminating aromatic amine isomers. Within the confined microenvironemnt of MOF-808, the incorporated redox-active chromophore exhibits distinct redox and photophysical signatures upon interaction with different aromatic amine isomers. This study highlights the role of confinement in enabling the molecular recognition feature in the porous solid.
