LiNTf2-iPr2NEt: A Catalytic System for the Acylation of Phenols and Primary Alcohols with Carboxylic Anhydrides
Abstract
A method for the acylation of phenols and primary alcohols with carboxylic anhydrides in the presence of LiNTf2 and iPr2NEt is described. The binary catalytic system is inert towards sterically hindered alcohols and thereby permits chemoselective acylation of less hindered hydroxy groups. The reaction conditions are mild and compatible with various labile functional groups such as formyl, N-Boc, N-Fmoc, O-THP, and O-TBDMS.
