Facile Access to 3,5-Disubstituted 1,2,4-Thiadiazoles via T3P® Mediated Oxidative Dimerization of Thioamides

Abstract

A propyl phosphonic anhydride (T3P®) mediated oxidative dimerization reaction of aromatic and aliphatic thioamides for the efficient synthesis of 3,5-disubstituted-1,2,4-thiadiazoles has been developed. T3P® has been demonstrated to be an efficient, greener, safer and more practical mild reagent for this transformation and provided good yields under mild reaction conditions. This is relatively milder and environmentally benign method for the synthesis of 3,5-disubstituted-1,2,4-thiadiazoles using T3P®.
