Reduction of the pincer complex (PArNP)MoBr3 using Na/Hg under argon yields a quadruply bonded Mo–Mo dimer, (κ3-PArNP)BrMo≣Mo(κ3-PArNP)Br. The complex represents a rare example of a metal-metal bonded species in which both metal centers bear a κ3-mer coordinated pincer ligand.
