Triaza-adamantyl N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC-TA): water-soluble ligands and silver complexes

Abstract

We report high-yielding preparations of two water-soluble NHC pre-ligands bearing triazaadamantyl (TA) neutral hydrophilic groups. The NHC-TA derivatives have been utilized in the synthesis of [AgCl(NHC-TA)] complexes, which characterization has included 109 Ag resonance determinations. The hydrolytic stability of the silver complexes has been found to depend on the NHC-TA ligand.
